MIS Department was established in the School of Business in (2007) as an academic  Department in the School of Business, so it can contribute in delivering the academic and development message of the university, the MIS department aims at providing the Jordanian and the Arab labor market with cognitive aptitude qualified practically and scientifically, so they can contribute in the development of the evolution and production by offering outstanding academic programs that connects between the Information System and the business sector to enhance both public and  private organizations.

 The MIS Department seek to become the compass of the scientific research  in the MIS and the Information Technology by motivating the scientific researching culture in the Techno-Administrative sectors, and it's clearly obvious by the academic staff, who managed to publish any scientific research in many well-known scientific magazines in the last few years.

The MIS department believes in the importance of cooperation with the business sector and including practical elements in the study plan related to the business sector, for example: practical training is one of the requirements to graduate in the MIS program in Mutah University, in addition to the use of global companies’ software such as Microsoft ERP System.

 The academic staff is composed of eight members; the majority of them have Ph.D. in the MIS from well-known global universities, the department also has laboratories and halls with modern technologies to provide the students with the environment that needs to ensure they achieve benefits for the students.

 The MIS department grants Bachelor's degree in the MIS major that was prepared to provide the students with knowledge related basic knowledge sectors for the MIS and Information Technology.

The Bachelor program was designed with accuracy so the study plan includes general courses covering the organizational, administrative sides, information and communication technology, and the strategies of information application technology to support the positive changes in the organization.

The program is also considered in other subjects including the programming field and the strategic application for the MIS, and deals with social causes related to the Management System.
