The Fourth International Conference of the School of Business at Mutah University, titled “Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Business Sustainability,” took place from April 11 to April 13, 2017, under the patronage of Prince El Hassan bin Talal.

The Dean of the School of Business, Dr. Abdul Salam Abu Tabanja, stated that the conference derived its theme and national academic focus from the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II. These directives emphasize the critical role of entrepreneurship and innovation as key drivers for economic growth and the creation of additional job opportunities for Jordanians. He highlighted that the most significant challenge facing Jordan is not political or security-related but rather economic, particularly in providing employment opportunities.

The conference aimed to:

  • Explore the state of entrepreneurial ventures in Jordan,
  • Promote and disseminate a culture of entrepreneurial thinking among university students,
  • Encourage individual initiatives and self-employment,
  • Host discussions on creativity and innovation in generating entrepreneurial ideas,
  • Address modern approaches to business support, and
  • Examine the obstacles to entrepreneurship and their role in creating new job opportunities.

Over three days, the conference included discussions on 57 research papers presented by 90 researchers from various countries, including Iraq (7), Morocco (1), Saudi Arabia (3), Lebanon (2), Australia (1), Egypt (2), Algeria (45), and Jordan (29).
